Data fra 1990-1993 viste, at ca. 31.600 arbejdere var eksponeret. Eksponeringen sker hovedsageligt gennem ind\u00e5nding. 1,3-BD har en harmoniseret klassificering som carcinogen kategori 1A (stoffer, der vides at have et carcinogent potentiale for mennesker, hovedsageligt baseret p\u00e5 menneskelig evidens) i henhold til CLP-forordningen. De vigtigste carcinogene virkninger er leuk\u00e6mi og lymfom).    <\/p><\/blockquote>\n<h2>Hvor risici opst\u00e5r<\/h2>\n<p>1,3 Butadien bruges prim\u00e6rt i produktionen af syntetisk gummi (herunder styren-butadien-gummi), termoplastiske harpikser, latex og som kemisk mellemprodukt (i produktionen af neopren til bilindustrien og industrielle gummivarer, i produktionen af methylmethacrylat-butadien-styren-polymer, der bruges som PVC-forst\u00e6rkningsmiddel, og i produktionen af adiponitril (en forl\u00f8ber for nylon)).<\/p>\n<p>Den st\u00f8rste erhvervsm\u00e6ssige eksponering sker i produktionsanl\u00e6g for 1,3-BD-monomer og i styren-1,3-BD-baserede gummi-\/polymeranl\u00e6g. Erhverv med h\u00f8j risiko for eksponering omfatter procesteknikere ved afl\u00e6sning, i tankg\u00e5rden og i rensnings-, polymerisations- og reaktionsomr\u00e5derne, laboratorieteknikere og vedligeholdelsesteknikere. <\/p>\n<p>Desuden kan arbejdere blive udsat for 1,3-BD fra produktstr\u00f8mme fra olieraffinaderier eller r\u00f8g, der produceres under elektrokirurgi.<\/p>\n<h2>Mere om stoffet<\/h2>\n<p>1,3-BD er en farvel\u00f8s gas, der produceres ved dampkrakning af paraffinholdige kulbrinter. Udledning af 1,3-BD til milj\u00f8et sker ogs\u00e5 fra kilder som biludst\u00f8dning, cigaretr\u00f8g, r\u00f8g fra br\u00e6ndeovne og afbr\u00e6nding af gummi og plast. 1,3-BD er ikke kendt for at forekomme i st\u00f8rre omfang som et naturligt produkt.  <\/p>\n<h2>Farer, der kan opst\u00e5<\/h2>\n<p>Det st\u00f8rste potentiale for erhvervsm\u00e6ssig eksponering for 1,3-BD er via ind\u00e5nding. Eksponering gennem indtagelse af f\u00f8devarer og drikkevand forventes at v\u00e6re meget lav, hvis der tr\u00e6ffes passende grundl\u00e6ggende hygiejneforanstaltninger. Akut eksponering for 1,3-BD kan for\u00e5rsage d\u00f8sighed eller svimmelhed. Kronisk eksponering for 1,3-BD er forbundet med en \u00f8get risiko for h\u00e6mato-lymfocytisk kr\u00e6ft (dvs. leuk\u00e6mi og\/eller lymfom).   <\/p>\n<h2>Hvad du kan g\u00f8re<\/h2>\n<p>Substitution b\u00f8r overvejes i anvendelser, hvor det er muligt. Hvis der ikke findes alternativer, eller hvis 1,3-BD kan forekomme som biprodukt, skal der udf\u00f8res regelm\u00e6ssige eksponeringsvurderinger, s\u00e5 man ved, hvorn\u00e5r der skal tr\u00e6ffes foranstaltninger. <\/p>\n<p>Der er flere m\u00e5der at reducere eksponeringen for 1,3-BD p\u00e5. Den foretrukne tilgang er at bruge tekniske kontrolforanstaltninger som f.eks. lokal udst\u00f8dningsventilation og procesmodifikation. Hvis disse foranstaltninger ikke er tilstr\u00e6kkelige, kan andre foranstaltninger implementeres, herunder krav om \u00e5ndedr\u00e6tsv\u00e6rn, hvor ventilation ikke er mulig, krav om, at arbejderne tager bad og skifter til almindeligt t\u00f8j, f\u00f8r de forlader fabrikken, og udlevering af beskyttelsesbriller og st\u00e6nksk\u00e6rme til arbejderne efter behov.  <\/p>\n<p>Derudover er det vigtigt at uddanne arbejderne i risici, sikker arbejdspraksis og effektive hygiejneforanstaltninger.
