St\u00f8v fra minearbejdere udg\u00f8r den st\u00f8rste risiko for milj\u00f8betingede lungesygdomme inden for minedrift, bygge- og anl\u00e6gsvirksomhed og visse andre industrier. <\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Indhalerbar krystallinsk silica (RCS) er klassificeret af IARC som et gruppe 1 carcinogen, hvilket betyder, at det anses for at v\u00e6re en sikker \u00e5rsag til kr\u00e6ft hos mennesker. RCS kan for\u00e5rsage alvorlige luftvejssygdomme og endda lungekr\u00e6ft ved langvarig eksponering, og risikoen opst\u00e5r via ind\u00e5nding af st\u00f8v. <\/p>\n<h2>Hvor risici opst\u00e5r<\/h2>\n<p>Eksponering for silikatst\u00f8v forekommer hovedsageligt i minedrift over og under jorden og i bygge- og anl\u00e6gsvirksomhed (anl\u00e6gsarbejder og underjordisk ingeni\u00f8rarbejde). Inden for underjordisk ingeni\u00f8rarbejde er omr\u00e5derne jord-, bygge- og anl\u00e6gsvirksomhed samt tunnelbyggeri s\u00e6rligt v\u00e6rd at n\u00e6vne. Derudover omfatter brancher, hvor krystallinsk silica anvendes som r\u00e5materiale, cementindustrien, den kemiske, keramiske og glasindustrien (glassmeltesand), st\u00f8beriindustrien (st\u00f8berisand) og gummi-, plast- og malingsindustrien (filler). St\u00f8vemissioner i stor skala, der kan indeholde Indhalerbar krystallinsk silica, er ogs\u00e5 mulige i landbrug eller gartneri. I de fleste tilf\u00e6lde er arbejderne ansat i mikrovirksomheder med h\u00f8jst ni medarbejdere.    <\/p>\n<p>Silikatst\u00f8v genereres hovedsageligt under udvinding og forarbejdning af r\u00e5materialer, der indeholder silikatb\u00e6rende minearbejdere. Derudover genereres silikatst\u00f8v af (hovedsageligt mekaniserede, h\u00f8jhastigheds) forarbejdningsoperationer som sk\u00e6ring, savning, boring, slibning og knusning af sten, beton, asfalt, m\u00f8rtel, mursten og keramiske produkter. Andre aktiviteter omfatter h\u00e5ndtering, blanding eller skovling af t\u00f8rre materialer, der indeholder krystallinsk silica, og processer som trykluftsbl\u00e6sning med sand eller glas kan ogs\u00e5 f\u00f8re til frigivelse af silica-st\u00f8v.  <\/p>\n<p>St\u00f8v, der allerede har lagt sig, kan ogs\u00e5 blive luftb\u00e5ret igen, n\u00e5r det hvirvles op af k\u00f8ret\u00f8jer eller vind, hvilket ogs\u00e5 kan eksponere personer, der opholder sig p\u00e5 bygge- og anl\u00e6gsvirksomheden.<\/p>\n<h2>Mere om stoffet<\/h2>\n<p>Krystallinsk silica eller siliciumdioxid er det n\u00e6stmest almindelige mineral i jordskorpen. Det forekommer i varierende m\u00e6ngder i de fleste bjergarter og udg\u00f8r st\u00f8rstedelen af verdens sandaflejringer. Det findes ogs\u00e5 i mindre m\u00e6ngder i ler. Produkter, hvor siliciumdioxid er bundet, er ikke farlige. Men under udvinding og forarbejdning, dvs. spr\u00e6ngning, sk\u00e6ring, flisning, boring, slibning osv. af produkter, der indeholder silica, kan der dannes sm\u00e5 partikler, som kan komme ned i lungerne og v\u00e6re farlige (&#8220;Indhalerbar krystallinsk silica&#8221;).    <\/p>\n<h2>Farer, der kan opst\u00e5<\/h2>\n<p>Den vigtigste sundhedseffekt som f\u00f8lge af ind\u00e5nding af krystallinsk silikast\u00f8v er udviklingen af silikose. Silikose er en permanent ardannelse i lungerne p\u00e5 grund af ind\u00e5ndet silikast\u00f8v. Ved fysisk anstrengelse opst\u00e5r der vejrtr\u00e6kningsbesv\u00e6r, som nogle gange udvikler sig til \u00e5nden\u00f8d i hvile. Nogle mennesker har ogs\u00e5 hoste med eller uden opspyt. Tidlige symptomer p\u00e5 silikose kan ogs\u00e5 v\u00e6re en tendens til at udvikle luftvejsinfektioner. Det er uklart, hvordan Indhalerbar krystallinsk silica pr\u00e6cist for\u00e5rsager lungekr\u00e6ft &#8211; den mest sandsynlige \u00e5rsag er ophobning af st\u00f8v i lungerne. Dets toksicitet g\u00f8r det vanskeligt for kroppens naturlige forsvarsmekanismer at fjerne st\u00f8vet, s\u00e5 det forbliver i lungev\u00e6vet og for\u00e5rsager konstant inflammation.      <\/p>\n<h2>Hvad du kan g\u00f8re<\/h2>\n<p>Den bedste l\u00f8sning er at forhindre dannelsen af partikler gennem substitution, f.eks. ved at bruge produkter med lavt st\u00f8vindhold (f.eks. silovarer i stedet for s\u00e6kkevarer). Hvis udskiftning ikke er mulig, skal eksponering for silikast\u00f8v forhindres eller i det mindste reduceres. Du kan opn\u00e5 st\u00f8vforebyggelse eller -reduktion ved at bruge st\u00f8vfattige arbejdsmetoder og maskiner, der arbejder med udsugning eller v\u00e5dbehandling. Reng\u00f8r regelm\u00e6ssigt arbejdsomr\u00e5der og arbejdsrum, undg\u00e5 aflejringer af st\u00f8v, og vigtigst af alt undg\u00e5 at hvirvle st\u00f8v op igen under reng\u00f8ringen (dvs. ikke t\u00f8rfeje eller bl\u00e6se af, men bruge st\u00f8vsugere eller fejemaskiner). Overv\u00e5g l\u00f8bende, om der dannes st\u00f8v, og om risikoh\u00e5ndteringsforanstaltningerne skal tilpasses.    <\/p>\n<p>I tilf\u00e6lde af st\u00f8vintensive aktiviteter skal arbejdsomr\u00e5derne opdeles i separate omr\u00e5der, hvor arbejdet kan udf\u00f8res i forl\u00e6ngelse af hinanden for at forhindre, at tredjeparter kommer i kontakt med st\u00f8v.<\/p>\n<p>Personlig beskyttelse (\u00e5ndedr\u00e6tsv\u00e6rn) b\u00f8r kun bruges som en sidste udvej, n\u00e5r tekniske foranstaltninger ikke er tilstr\u00e6kkelige til at beskytte brugeren mod at ind\u00e5nde skadelige st\u00f8v, dampe eller gasser.
