Beryllium har en harmoniseret klassificering under CLP-forordningen som carcinogen kategori 1B, hvilket betyder, at det sandsynligvis for\u00e5rsager lungekr\u00e6ft hos mennesker. <\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Beryllium kan ogs\u00e5 for\u00e5rsage hudsensibilisering og kronisk berylliumsygdom. De prim\u00e6re eksponeringsveje for beryllium og dets forbindelser er gennem ind\u00e5nding af st\u00f8v og dampe og gennem hudkontakt med produkter, der indeholder beryllium. <\/p>\n<h2>Hvor risici opst\u00e5r<\/h2>\n<p>Processer med den formodede h\u00f8jeste eksponering er smeltning, st\u00f8bning og varmt arbejde samt mekanisk slibning af berylliumlegeringer. Erhverv med h\u00f8j risiko for berylliumeksponering er producenter og fabrikanter af berylliumlegeringer, keramikteknikere, missilteknikere, arbejdere i atomreaktorer og arbejdere med elektrisk, elektronisk og optisk udstyr. Der er ogs\u00e5 risici ved st\u00f8bning af ikke-jernholdige metaller og prim\u00e6r kobberforarbejdning, og i tilf\u00e6lde af aluminiumsproduktion kan eksponering skyldes berylliumindholdet i bauxit. Erhvervsm\u00e6ssig eksponering kan ogs\u00e5 f\u00f8re til eksponering for beryllium i hjemmet p\u00e5 arbejdst\u00f8j, selvom det i nogle lande er forbudt at tage t\u00f8jet med hjem.   <\/p>\n<h2>Mere om stoffet<\/h2>\n<p>Beryllium er et let metal med et us\u00e6dvanligt h\u00f8jt smeltepunkt og styrke\/v\u00e6gt-forhold. Det er det letteste af alle faste, kemisk stabile stoffer. Rent berylliummetal og dets legeringer med kobber og aluminium bruges i flyindustrien og rumfart\u00f8jer, atomreaktorer og lydkomponenter. Uorganiske beryllium-forbindelser med oxid, klorid, fluorid, hydroxid, sulfat og nitrat finder deres anvendelse i flere andre applikationer.   <\/p>\n<h2>Farer, der kan opst\u00e5<\/h2>\n<p>N\u00e5r berylliumholdigt st\u00f8v ind\u00e5ndes, kan det for\u00e5rsage \u00e5nden\u00f8d, hoste, tr\u00e6thed, v\u00e6gttab, feber og nattesved. I alvorlige tilf\u00e6lde kan det v\u00e6re d\u00f8deligt, hvis det ind\u00e5ndes, og giftigt, hvis det sluges. Langvarig eksponering kan for\u00e5rsage akut eller kronisk berylliumsygdom, en progressiv lungesygdom, eller endda lungekr\u00e6ft. Berylliumsensibilisering kan opst\u00e5 ved ind\u00e5nding eller hudeksponering for berylliumst\u00f8v, -st\u00f8v, -t\u00e5ge eller -opl\u00f8sninger.   <\/p>\n<p><strong>Latenstiden for berylliumrelateret kr\u00e6ft varierer fra 15 til 25 \u00e5r.  <\/strong><\/p>\n<h2>Hvad du kan g\u00f8re<\/h2>\n<p>Den mest effektive m\u00e5de at forhindre eksponering p\u00e5 er at bruge berylliumfrie alternativer eller alternativer med lavere berylliumkoncentration. Hvis berylliumholdige produkter ikke kan erstattes, skal eksponeringen for beryllium og dets forbindelser reduceres ved hj\u00e6lp af tekniske kontroller (f.eks. brug i t\u00e6tte systemer, lokal udst\u00f8dningsventilation, hvor emissioner kan forekomme). G\u00f8r l\u00f8bende arbejderne opm\u00e6rksomme p\u00e5 eksponeringens virkninger, og tilskynd dem til at rapportere om tidlige symptomer.  Det anbefales at inddrage en arbejdsmediciner.<\/p>\n<p>Desuden skal du uddanne arbejderne i farer, sikker arbejdspraksis og effektive hygiejneforanstaltninger. Suppler med personlig beskyttelse, hvis de gennemf\u00f8rlige kontroller ikke er tilstr\u00e6kkelige til at reducere eksponeringen til under gr\u00e6nsev\u00e6rdierne. Personlig beskyttelse b\u00f8r kun bruges som en sidste udvej, efter at de mulige tekniske l\u00f8sninger er blevet pr\u00e6senteret. Arbejderne b\u00f8r ogs\u00e5 vaske ansigt, h\u00e6nder og underarme, f\u00f8r de spiser, ryger eller anvender kosmetik.
