I 1990 blev det ansl\u00e5et, at 276.000 arbejdere var udsat for TCE, men brugen er faldet betydeligt siden. <\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>N\u00e5r arbejdere uds\u00e6ttes for TCE, sker det prim\u00e6rt ved ind\u00e5nding af dampe og ved hudkontakt med dampe eller v\u00e6ske. Stoffet er klassificeret som gruppe 1 af IARC, hvilket betyder, at det er carcinogent for mennesker. TCE er klassificeret som kategori 1B carcinogen i henhold til CLP-forordningen, hvilket betyder, at stoffet kan for\u00e5rsage kr\u00e6ft hos mennesker. Trichlorethylen for\u00e5rsager nyre- og leverkr\u00e6ft hos mennesker. Stoffet er muligvis mutagent og kan for\u00e5rsage non-Hodgkin-lymfom.    <\/p>\n<h2>Hvor risici opst\u00e5r<\/h2>\n<p>St\u00f8rstedelen af eksponeringen for TCE sker i industrier, der producerer metalprodukter, maskiner og transportudstyr. I EU er brugen af TCE kun tilladt til godkendte anvendelser eller som mellemprodukt. Det anvendes for det meste som opl\u00f8sningsmiddel til at fjerne fedt fra metaldele. P\u00e5 grund af lovgivningen er den samlede m\u00e6ngde TCE, der anvendes i EU, faldet betydeligt i l\u00f8bet af de sidste \u00e5rtier.   <\/p>\n<h2>Mere om stoffet<\/h2>\n<p>TCE er en halogeneret alken, der ved stuetemperatur findes som en klar, farvel\u00f8s eller bl\u00e5 fritflydende v\u00e6ske med en behagelig og s\u00f8dlig lugt. Det er letopl\u00f8seligt i vand, opl\u00f8seligt i ethanol, acetone, diethylether og chloroform og blandbart i olie. Det er relativt stabilt, hvis det h\u00e6mmes, men sollys, varme, luft eller ilt og fugt kan fremskynde reaktionen til farlige nedbrydningsprodukter.<\/p>\n<h2>Farer, der kan opst\u00e5<\/h2>\n<p>Ved ind\u00e5nding kan TCE irritere n\u00e6se, \u00f8jne og hals og skade nervesystemet. Symptomerne kan v\u00e6re hovedpine, kvalme, svimmelhed, d\u00f8sighed og forvirring. En alvorlig eksponering kan ogs\u00e5 medf\u00f8re bevidstl\u00f8shed. Ved kontakt med huden kan det give smerter, r\u00f8dme og h\u00e6velse af huden. Langvarig eksponering kan for\u00e5rsage nyre- og leverkr\u00e6ft.    <\/p>\n<p><strong>Latenstiden mellem eksponering og TCE-relateret kr\u00e6ft varierer mellem 18 og 34 \u00e5r.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h2>Hvad du kan g\u00f8re<\/h2>\n<p>Den mest effektive m\u00e5de at forhindre eksponering p\u00e5 er at erstatte med et TCE-frit alternativ eller et alternativ med lavere TCE-koncentration. Disse erstatninger er generelt tilg\u00e6ngelige og skal anvendes. Hvis TCE-holdige produkter ikke kan substitueres, og der gives tilladelse til fortsat brug efter en ans\u00f8gning om godkendelse, skal eksponeringen for TCE reduceres ved hj\u00e6lp af tekniske kontroller som f.eks. lukkede systemer eller ventilation. Udf\u00f8r regelm\u00e6ssigt repr\u00e6sentative eksponeringsm\u00e5linger, s\u00e5 man ved, hvorn\u00e5r der skal gribes ind. G\u00f8r l\u00f8bende arbejderne opm\u00e6rksomme p\u00e5 virkningerne af eksponering og tilskynd dem til at rapportere tidlige symptomer.    <\/p>\n<p>Desuden skal arbejderne opl\u00e6res i farer, sikker arbejdspraksis og effektive hygiejneforanstaltninger. Suppler dette med personlig beskyttelse (PPE), hvor gennemf\u00f8rlige kontroller ikke er tilstr\u00e6kkelige til at reducere eksponeringen til under eksponeringsgr\u00e6nserne. De personlige v\u00e6rnemidler kan omfatte sikkerhedsbriller og beskyttelsest\u00f8j, f.eks. handsker, forkl\u00e6der og st\u00f8vler.
