La exposici\u00f3n laboral a la acrilamida se debe principalmente al contacto cut\u00e1neo con el mon\u00f3mero s\u00f3lido y a la inhalaci\u00f3n de polvo y vapores durante la producci\u00f3n de acrilamida y poliacrilamida. <\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>La exposici\u00f3n a esta sustancia aumenta el riesgo de padecer varios tipos de c\u00e1ncer (clasificados como del grupo 2A por la IARC, es decir, cancer\u00edgenos para el ser humano). En el organismo, la acrilamida se transforma en un compuesto llamado glicidamida, que provoca mutaciones y da\u00f1os en el ADN. Los altos niveles de exposici\u00f3n laboral a la acrilamida tambi\u00e9n pueden causar da\u00f1os neurol\u00f3gicos. Sin embargo, los estudios sobre la exposici\u00f3n laboral son actualmente limitados y no concluyentes.   <\/p>\n<h2>D\u00f3nde se producen los riesgos<\/h2>\n<p>Los trabajadores de las industrias del papel y la pasta de papel, la construcci\u00f3n, la fundici\u00f3n, la extracci\u00f3n de petr\u00f3leo, los textiles, los cosm\u00e9ticos, el procesado de alimentos, los pl\u00e1sticos, la miner\u00eda y la agricultura est\u00e1n potencialmente expuestos a la acrilamida.<\/p>\n<h2>M\u00e1s sobre la sustancia<\/h2>\n<p>La acrilamida es una amida insaturada que se presenta como un s\u00f3lido cristalino blanco e inodoro a temperatura ambiente. Se usa principalmente para fabricar sustancias llamadas poliacrilamida y copol\u00edmeros de acrilamida, que se utilizan en muchos procesos industriales, como la producci\u00f3n de papel, tintes y pl\u00e1sticos, y en el tratamiento del agua potable y de las aguas residuales, incluidas las aguas negras. <\/p>\n<p>Existe un l\u00edmite de exposici\u00f3n profesional vinculante de la UE de 0,1 mg\/m\u00b3.<\/p>\n<h2>Peligros que pueden ocurrir<\/h2>\n<p>La exposici\u00f3n prolongada o repetida por cualquier v\u00eda puede causar debilidad muscular, incoordinaci\u00f3n, erupciones cut\u00e1neas, sudoraci\u00f3n excesiva de manos y pies, manos fr\u00edas, descamaci\u00f3n de la piel, entumecimiento, sensaciones cut\u00e1neas o musculares anormales, fatiga, y causar da\u00f1os en el sistema nervioso central y perif\u00e9rico. La exposici\u00f3n prolongada a la acrilamida durante a\u00f1os puede causar varios tipos de c\u00e1ncer a trav\u00e9s del ADN da\u00f1ado. <\/p>\n<p><strong>El periodo de latencia entre la exposici\u00f3n y el c\u00e1ncer relacionado con la acrilamida var\u00eda de 4 a 16 a\u00f1os.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h2>Qu\u00e9 puedes hacer<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Realiza continuamente mediciones adecuadas de la exposici\u00f3n para saber cu\u00e1ndo deben tomarse medidas.<\/li>\n<li>Averigua si los trabajadores notifican s\u00edntomas tempranos. Los trabajadores deben conocer los efectos de la exposici\u00f3n. <\/li>\n<li>La mejor soluci\u00f3n es controlar la exposici\u00f3n, por ejemplo evitando el contacto d\u00e9rmico y por inhalaci\u00f3n.
