Ces mat\u00e9riaux sont utilis\u00e9s dans la fabrication d&#8217;emballages, de rev\u00eatements et de peintures, de vernis, d&rsquo;adh\u00e9sifs, de produits et dispositifs dentaires, de mat\u00e9riaux de reconstruction osseuse ou de lentilles de contact. De nouvelles applications sont en cours de d\u00e9veloppement dans les domaines de l&rsquo;imagerie m\u00e9dicale et de l&rsquo;administration de m\u00e9dicaments.  <\/p>\n<p>Les travailleurs du secteur de la fabrication de polym\u00e8res sont les plus expos\u00e9s au risque d&rsquo;exposition au m\u00e9thacrylate de glycidyle. Une exposition \u00e9lev\u00e9e peut se produire lors de t\u00e2ches telles que l&rsquo;\u00e9chantillonnage, la maintenance, le remplissage de r\u00e9cipients, la filtration, les essais et l&rsquo;\u00e9limination des d\u00e9chets.<br \/>\nLes professions li\u00e9es aux activit\u00e9s des cabinets m\u00e9dicaux et dentaires, telles que les dentistes, les assistants dentaires, les hygi\u00e9nistes et les techniciens de laboratoire m\u00e9dical, peuvent \u00eatre expos\u00e9es au m\u00e9thacrylate de glycidyle. Les travailleurs impliqu\u00e9s dans la fabrication d&rsquo;instruments m\u00e9dicaux et dentaires peuvent \u00e9galement y \u00eatre expos\u00e9s.  <\/p>\n<h2>En savoir plus sur la substance<\/h2>\n<p>Le m\u00e9thacrylate de glycidyle est un liquide incolore issu de l\u2019activit\u00e9 humaine. Il est principalement utilis\u00e9 pour la fabrication de plastiques (polym\u00e8res) et de r\u00e9sines acryliques. Ces mat\u00e9riaux sont utilis\u00e9s dans les produits dentaires, les mat\u00e9riaux destin\u00e9s \u00e0 la r\u00e9paration osseuse, les rev\u00eatements et les lentilles de contact. Ils peuvent \u00e9galement \u00eatre utilis\u00e9s dans des mat\u00e9riaux entrant en contact avec les denr\u00e9es alimentaires, tels que les emballages. De nouvelles applications de ces polym\u00e8res sont en cours de d\u00e9veloppement pour l\u2019imagerie m\u00e9dicale et l\u2019administration cibl\u00e9e de m\u00e9dicaments.<br \/>\nUne valeur limite d\u2019exposition professionnelle contraignante \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9chelle de l\u2019Union europ\u00e9enne est actuellement en cours d\u2019\u00e9laboration.    <\/p>\n<h2>Risques pour la sant\u00e9 pouvant survenir<\/h2>\n<p>L&rsquo;exposition au m\u00e9thacrylate de glycidyle se fait par inhalation, par voie cutan\u00e9e et par voie orale (contact mains-bouche).<br \/>\nLes donn\u00e9es disponibles sont insuffisantes pour d\u00e9terminer si le m\u00e9thacrylate de glycidyle est canc\u00e9rig\u00e8ne chez l&rsquo;homme. Des \u00e9tudes men\u00e9es sur des animaux montrent qu&rsquo;une exposition \u00e0 long terme \u00e0 cette substance peut provoquer un cancer et avoir des effets n\u00e9fastes sur la reproduction et la fertilit\u00e9. Des effets de sensibilisation cutan\u00e9e chez l&rsquo;homme ont \u00e9t\u00e9 signal\u00e9s.  <\/p>\n<h2>Ce que vous pouvez faire<\/h2>\n<p>La meilleure fa\u00e7on de r\u00e9duire les risques li\u00e9s \u00e0 l&rsquo;exposition au m\u00e9thacrylate de glycidyle consiste \u00e0 le remplacer par une substance plus s\u00fbre ou \u00e0 modifier le proc\u00e9d\u00e9. V\u00e9rifiez r\u00e9guli\u00e8rement les niveaux d&rsquo;exposition afin de vous assurer de l&rsquo;efficacit\u00e9 des mesures de s\u00e9curit\u00e9. Limitez le temps que les travailleurs passent dans les zones \u00e0 risque et restreignez l&rsquo;acc\u00e8s \u00e0 celles-ci.  <\/p>\n<p>Formez les travailleurs aux risques li\u00e9s au m\u00e9thacrylate de glycidyle et aux consignes de s\u00e9curit\u00e9 \u00e0 respecter lors de son utilisation. Ils doivent signaler tout probl\u00e8me de sant\u00e9 d\u00e8s son apparition. Mettez \u00e0 leur disposition des installations sanitaires ad\u00e9quates et accordez-leur suffisamment de temps pour leur hygi\u00e8ne personnelle.  <\/p>\n<p>Les travailleurs qui sont en contact \u00e9troit avec le m\u00e9thacrylate de 2,3-\u00e9poxypropyle (m\u00e9thacrylate de glycidyle), par exemple lors de la pr\u00e9paration de mat\u00e9riaux composites dentaires et osseux, doivent utiliser un \u00e9quipement de protection adapt\u00e9 (tel que des gants et des v\u00eatements de protection) afin d\u2019\u00e9viter toute absorption cutan\u00e9e.
