L&#8217;employeur doit respecter cet ordre de priorit\u00e9 lorsqu&rsquo;il d\u00e9termine et applique les mesures de protection. Nous nous concentrerons ici sur le premier niveau, S pour substitution. Veuillez consid\u00e9rer S en premier lieu. Notez \u00e9galement qu&rsquo;une combinaison de mesures peut \u00eatre utilis\u00e9e.    <\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>La substitution des canc\u00e9rog\u00e8nes peut s&rsquo;av\u00e9rer difficile. Une alternative techniquement \u00e9quivalente doit \u00eatre disponible et r\u00e9alisable. Le risque li\u00e9 \u00e0 la solution de remplacement doit \u00eatre inf\u00e9rieur \u00e0 celui li\u00e9 au canc\u00e9rog\u00e8ne remplac\u00e9. Si une \u00e9valuation ne permet pas de remplacer un certain canc\u00e9rog\u00e8ne, les raisons doivent \u00eatre document\u00e9es de mani\u00e8re transparente.   <\/p>\n<p>En g\u00e9n\u00e9ral, une substitution r\u00e9ussie r\u00e9duit les risques pour les employ\u00e9s et permet aux employeurs de mettre en \u0153uvre des mesures de gestion des risques moins exigeantes. En \u00e9liminant totalement l&rsquo;exposition \u00e0 un canc\u00e9rog\u00e8ne, il ne serait pas n\u00e9cessaire d \u00ab \u00e9tablir un registre d&rsquo;exposition ni de le conserver jusqu \u00bb \u00e0 40 ans. Cela pourrait r\u00e9duire les co\u00fbts, par exemple pour les \u00e9quipements de s\u00e9curit\u00e9, les d\u00e9chets, les examens m\u00e9dicaux. Par-dessus tout, la substitution est b\u00e9n\u00e9fique pour la sant\u00e9 des travailleurs.   <\/p>\n<p>Lors de l&rsquo;\u00e9valuation de la substitution,<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>V\u00e9rifiez les obligations l\u00e9gales susceptibles de restreindre ou de limiter l&rsquo;utilisation du canc\u00e9rog\u00e8ne. L&rsquo;autorisation au titre de REACH en est un exemple. <\/li>\n<li>Identifiez les canc\u00e9rog\u00e8nes pr\u00e9sentant le risque le plus \u00e9lev\u00e9 sur le lieu de travail et consid\u00e9rez-les en premier lieu.<\/li>\n<li>V\u00e9rifiez si le canc\u00e9rog\u00e8ne utilis\u00e9 a une fonction dans le m\u00e9lange ou l&rsquo;article final. Si c&rsquo;est le cas, ces canc\u00e9rog\u00e8nes sont g\u00e9n\u00e9ralement plus difficiles \u00e0 remplacer et peuvent n\u00e9cessiter une nouvelle conception de votre m\u00e9lange ou article ou des modifications plus importantes de l&rsquo;ensemble du processus de production. <\/li>\n<li>D\u00e9terminez les crit\u00e8res dont votre client a r\u00e9ellement besoin et si ces crit\u00e8res sont flexibles pour permettre des changements.<\/li>\n<li>D\u00e9finissez des crit\u00e8res de substitution pertinents pour vous et votre entreprise. Sachez qu&rsquo;une solution beaucoup plus s\u00fbre ne doit pas \u00eatre \u00e9cart\u00e9e pour une simple question de co\u00fbt. <\/li>\n<li>Identifiez les personnes qui doivent \u00eatre impliqu\u00e9es dans votre cha\u00eene d&rsquo;approvisionnement.<\/li>\n<li>Recueillez des informations sur les alternatives disponibles et prenez des d\u00e9cisions en connaissance de cause. Il se peut que des solutions soient d\u00e9j\u00e0 disponibles. <\/li>\n<li>Tenez compte des aspects li\u00e9s \u00e0 la durabilit\u00e9, tels que l&#8217;empreinte carbone, les \u00e9missions de gaz \u00e0 effet de serre et la recyclabilit\u00e9, qui deviennent de plus en plus importants.<\/li>\n<li>Une alternative ne doit pas n\u00e9cessairement \u00eatre une solution universelle. Envisagez plut\u00f4t de combiner plusieurs types de mesures. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Quelques mesures \u00e0 prendre en compte<\/h2>\n<h3>Substances ou m\u00e9langes alternatifs<\/h3>\n<p>Souvent, la substitution par une substance ou un m\u00e9lange alternatif est plus facile \u00e0 mettre en \u0153uvre dans des processus de production d\u00e9j\u00e0 \u00e9tablis et peut ne n\u00e9cessiter que de petits r\u00e9ajustements. Toutefois, \u00e9vitez les substitutions regrettables en utilisant des produits de remplacement appartenant au m\u00eame groupe chimique et pr\u00e9sentant un profil toxicologique similaire. Les informations sur les propri\u00e9t\u00e9s chimiques, notamment la pression de vapeur, et la classification sont disponibles dans la fiche de donn\u00e9es de s\u00e9curit\u00e9 de votre fournisseur et dans les bases de donn\u00e9es chimiques sp\u00e9cialis\u00e9es, par exemple celles de l&rsquo;ECHA.  <\/p>\n<p>Exemple : chrome (III) au lieu de chrome (VI) dans le traitement de surface du chromage d\u00e9coratif.<\/p>\n<h3>Alternatives techniques<\/h3>\n<p>Les alternatives techniques permettent d&rsquo;obtenir le m\u00eame r\u00e9sultat avec un processus diff\u00e9rent. Par exemple, l&rsquo;utilisation d&rsquo;un proc\u00e9d\u00e9 physique au lieu d&rsquo;un proc\u00e9d\u00e9 chimique. Les changements de processus n\u00e9cessitent souvent l&rsquo;application de substances alternatives. Les propri\u00e9t\u00e9s du produit final ou du mat\u00e9riau peuvent \u00e9galement changer.   <\/p>\n<p>Exemple : d\u00e9p\u00f4t physique en phase vapeur (PVD) au lieu du chromage au chrome (VI) pour certaines utilisations.<\/p>\n<h3>Alternatives fonctionnelles<\/h3>\n<p>Mettre l&rsquo;accent sur la fonction du m\u00e9lange ou de l&rsquo;article final peut permettre d&rsquo;envisager un plus large \u00e9ventail d&rsquo;alternatives, mais cela peut n\u00e9cessiter une nouvelle conception.
