Berilij ima uskla\u0111enu klasifikaciju prema CLP uredbi kao karcinogeni kategorije 1B, \u0161to zna\u010di da vjerojatno uzrokuje rak plu\u0107a kod ljudi. <\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Berilij tako\u0111er mo\u017ee uzrokovati senzibilizaciju ko\u017ee i kroni\u010dnu berilijsku bolest. Primarni putevi izlo\u017eenosti ljudi beriliju i njegovim spojevima su udisanje pra\u0161ine i para te kontakt s proizvodima koji sadr\u017ee berilij. <\/p>\n<h2>Gdje se javljaju rizici<\/h2>\n<p>Procesi s pretpostavljenom najve\u0107om izlo\u017eeno\u0161\u0107u su taljenje, lijevanje i vru\u0107i rad, kao i mehani\u010dko bru\u0161enje berilijevih legura. Zanimanja s visokim rizikom od izlo\u017eenosti beriliju su proizvo\u0111a\u010di i prera\u0111iva\u010di berilijevih legura, kerami\u010dari, tehni\u010dari za projektile, radnici na nuklearnim reaktorima te radnici na elektri\u010dnoj, elektroni\u010dkoj i opti\u010dkoj opremi. Postoje i rizici za lijevanje obojenih metala i primarnu transformaciju bakra, a u slu\u010daju proizvodnje aluminija, izlo\u017eenost mo\u017ee biti uzrokovana sadr\u017eajem berilija u boksitu. Profesionalna izlo\u017eenost mo\u017ee dovesti i do izlo\u017eenosti beriliju kod ku\u0107e na radnoj odje\u0107i, iako je u nekim zemljama no\u0161enje odje\u0107e ku\u0107i zabranjeno.   <\/p>\n<h2>Vi\u0161e o supstanci<\/h2>\n<p>Berilij je laki metal s neobi\u010dno visokim tali\u0161tem i omjerom \u010dvrsto\u0107e i te\u017eine. Najlak\u0161i je od svih \u010dvrstih, kemijski stabilnih tvari. \u010cisti berilij i njegove legure s bakrom i aluminijem koriste se u zrakoplovnoj industriji i svemirskim letjelicama, nuklearnim reaktorima i audio komponentama. Anorganski spojevi berilija s oksidom, kloridom, fluoridom, hidroksidom, sulfatom i nitratom nalaze svoju primjenu u brojnim drugim primjenama.   <\/p>\n<h2>Opasnosti koje se mogu pojaviti<\/h2>\n<p>Udisanje pra\u0161ine koja sadr\u017ei berilij mo\u017ee uzrokovati kratko\u0107u daha, ka\u0161alj, umor, gubitak te\u017eine, vru\u0107icu i no\u0107no znojenje. U te\u017eim slu\u010dajevima mo\u017ee biti smrtonosno ako se udi\u0161e, a otrovno ako se proguta. Dugotrajna izlo\u017eenost mo\u017ee uzrokovati akutnu ili kroni\u010dnu bolest berilija, progresivnu bolest plu\u0107a ili \u010dak rak plu\u0107a. Senzibilizacija na berilij mo\u017ee nastati udisanjem ili izlaganjem ko\u017ee pra\u0161ini, pari, magli ili otopinama berilija.   <\/p>\n<p><strong>Latentni period raka povezanog s berilijem varira od 15 do 25 godina.  <\/strong><\/p>\n<h2>\u0160to mo\u017eete u\u010diniti<\/h2>\n<p>Naju\u010dinkovitiji na\u010din sprje\u010davanja izlo\u017eenosti je kori\u0161tenje alternativa bez berilija ili s ni\u017eom koncentracijom berilija. Ako se proizvodi koji sadr\u017ee berilij ne mogu zamijeniti, izlo\u017eenost beriliju i njegovim spojevima treba smanjiti in\u017eenjerskim kontrolama (npr. kori\u0161tenje u zatvorenim sustavima, lokalna ispu\u0161na ventilacija gdje mogu do\u0107i do emisija).  Koristite samo usisavanje ili mokro \u010di\u0161\u0107enje opreme i radnih povr\u0161ina (strojevi, pod). Povremeno provodite reprezentativna mjerenja izlo\u017eenosti kako bi se znalo kada i gdje treba poduzeti mjere. Kontinuirano osvje\u0161tavajte radnike o u\u010dincima izlo\u017eenosti i poticajte ih da prijavljuju rane simptome.  Preporu\u010duje se uklju\u010divanje lije\u010dnika medicine rada.<\/p>\n<p>Osim toga, obu\u010dite radnike o opasnostima, sigurnim radnim praksama i u\u010dinkovitim higijenskim mjerama. Dopunite ovo osobnom za\u0161titnom opremom gdje izvedive kontrole nisu dovoljne za smanjenje izlo\u017eenosti ispod grani\u010dnih vrijednosti. Osobna za\u0161titna oprema treba se koristiti samo kao krajnja mjera, nakon \u0161to su predstavljena mogu\u0107a tehni\u010dka rje\u0161enja. Radnici bi tako\u0111er trebali oprati lice, ruke i podlaktice prije jela, pu\u0161enja ili nano\u0161enja kozmetike.
