Metalni nikal je od strane IARC-a klasificiran kao kancerogen skupine 2B, mogu\u0107e kancerogen za ljude. Izlo\u017eenost se javlja udisanjem, gutanjem ili kontaktom s ko\u017eom. Osim toga, nakon izlaganja niklu i niklovim spojevima javljaju se ko\u017ene tegobe i respiratorni u\u010dinci. Postoji pove\u0107an rizik od raka plu\u0107a i nosa zbog izlaganja pra\u0161ini rafinerije nikla i niklovom subsulfidu.    <\/p>\n<h2>Gdje se javljaju rizici<\/h2>\n<p>Nikal, u obliku raznih legura i spojeva, u \u0161irokoj je komercijalnoj upotrebi ve\u0107 vi\u0161e od 100 godina. Niklovi spojevi i metalni nikal imaju mnoge industrijske i komercijalne primjene, uklju\u010duju\u0107i upotrebu u nehr\u0111aju\u0107em \u010deliku i drugim niklovim legurama, katalizatorima, baterijama, pigmentima i keramici. Ve\u0107ina radnika izlo\u017eenih niklu i niklovim spojevima u Europskoj uniji radi u proizvodnji metalnih proizvoda i proizvodnji strojeva, osim elektri\u010dnih, i proizvodnji transportne opreme. Kroni\u010dno udisanje metalnog nikla i spojeva nikla netopivih u vodi mo\u017ee rezultirati respiratornim u\u010dinci, uklju\u010duju\u0107i smanjenu funkciju plu\u0107a i bronhitis. Kroni\u010dno udisanje topljivih spojeva nikla mo\u017ee rezultirati astmom.     <\/p>\n<p><strong>Vrijeme izme\u0111u izlo\u017eenosti niklu i pojave simptoma raka varira od 13 do 24 godine.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h2>\u0160to mo\u017eete u\u010diniti<\/h2>\n<p>Naju\u010dinkovitiji na\u010din sprje\u010davanja izlo\u017eenosti je zamjena proizvodima bez nikla ili s ni\u017eim udjelom nikla. Ako se proizvodi koji sadr\u017ee nikal ne mogu zamijeniti, izlo\u017eenost niklu treba smanjiti in\u017eenjerskim kontrolama. Kontinuirano provodite ispravna mjerenja izlo\u017eenosti kako bi se znalo kada treba poduzeti mjere. Istra\u017eite prijavljuju li radnici rane simptome.
