Aangenomen wordt dat de maatregelen om blootstelling aan zeswaardig chroom tijdens het werk te voorkomen, ook zullen helpen om blootstelling aan andere gevaarlijke stoffen te voorkomen. <\/p>\n<h2>Wat is het risico?<\/h2>\n<p>In het verleden zijn verf\/coatings met zeswaardig chroom gebruikt om metalen, beton en houten bouwmaterialen te conserveren. Zeswaardige chroomverbindingen kunnen vrijkomen tijdens de verwerking of verwijdering van deze coatings van objecten zoals bruggen\/constructies, stations en gebouwen. <\/p>\n<p>Zeswaardig chroom is schadelijk voor de gezondheid. Het kan ziekten zoals kanker veroorzaken. Er is alleen een risico wanneer mensen worden blootgesteld aan zeswaardig chroom, bijvoorbeeld tijdens werkzaamheden<br \/>\nmet coatings die zeswaardig chroom bevatten. Het gezondheidsrisico neemt toe met de intensiteit en duur van de blootstelling.   <\/p>\n<h2>Beheersregime: werk in uitvoering<\/h2>\n<p>Dit beheersregime schrijft maatregelen voor om blootstelling aan zeswaardig chroom tijdens het verwerken of verwijderen van coatings te voorkomen. Het regime is bedoeld als werkdocument en zal de komende tijd verder worden ontwikkeld en onderbouwd met waarnemingen. <\/p>\n<p>Rijkswaterstaat (RWS), ProRail en het Rijksvastgoedbedrijf (RVB) gaan de komende tijd meetgegevens verzamelen van onderzoeken naar de emissie van zeswaardig chroom tijdens de<br \/>\nverwerking of verwijdering van coatings. Hierbij worden verschillende technieken in verschillende omstandigheden met elkaar vergeleken. De onderzoeksresultaten kunnen leiden tot aanpassing van de maatregelen in het beheersregime of tot het toevoegen van technieken als veilige werkpraktijk.
