Veel van dergelijke voordelige stoffen kunnen giftig zijn. Het is dus van cruciaal belang om de veiligheid en duurzaamheid van dergelijke innovatieve materialen en producten in een vroege ontwerpfase te beoordelen om een verantwoorde ontwikkeling en toepassing ervan te garanderen. Een van de ideale manieren om dit te garanderen is door middel van een Safe and Sustainable by design (SSbD) benadering. Een van de grootste uitdagingen bij de toepassing van deze benadering is echter de toepassing ervan op de vroege innovatiefasen waar beperkte materiaalgegevens en\/of informatie beschikbaar is. LICARA Innovation Scan is in dit verband een nuttig online hulpmiddel waarmee snel risico&#8217;s en voordelen van innovatief materiaal met beperkte informatie of gegevens kunnen worden gescand en vroegtijdige &#8216;rode vlaggen&#8217; kunnen worden ge\u00efdentificeerd om de productontwikkelaars te waarschuwen voor mogelijke problemen<em>.<\/em>     <\/p>\n<h2>Duurzaam ontwerp met LICARA Innovatiescan: Vroege risico-batenanalyse<\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/research-and-innovation.ec.europa.eu\/research-area\/industrial-research-and-innovation\/key-enabling-technologies\/chemicals-and-advanced-materials\/safe-and-sustainable-design_en\">Safe and Sustainable by Design (veilig en duurzaam door ontwerp)<\/a> is een aanpak voor het ontwerpen van chemicali\u00ebn en materialen die zich richt op het leveren van een functie (of dienst), waarbij volumes en chemische en materiaaleigenschappen worden vermeden die schadelijk kunnen zijn voor de menselijke gezondheid of het milieu, in het bijzonder groepen chemicali\u00ebn die waarschijnlijk (eco)toxisch, persistent, bioaccumulerend of mobiel zijn. LICARA Innovation Scan kan helpen bij het implementeren van deze aanpak in de vroege productontwerpfase. Het is een webgebaseerd hulpmiddel dat bedrijven begeleidt bij hun besluitvormingsproces voor de duurzame ontwikkeling van nieuwe innovatieve producten. Het is een eenvoudig maar effectief hulpmiddel voor een snelle risico-batenanalyse over de gehele levenscyclus van een product in een vroeg innovatiestadium waarin beperkte informatie beschikbaar is.   <\/p>\n<p>LICARA Innovation Scan gebruikt de principes van levenscyclusanalyse, risicoanalyse en multicriteria-besluitvorming om (i) productvoordelen te evalueren in termen van de economische, ecologische en sociale mogelijkheden en (ii) specifieke risico&#8217;s voor consumenten, werknemers, het publiek en het milieu te evalueren.  <\/p>\n<p>Het uiteindelijke resultaat van de sterke en zwakke punten van het product omvat onzekerheden en hiaten in de kennis over de productontwikkeling die productfabrikanten en hun belanghebbenden ondersteunen in hun besluitvormingsproces.<\/p>\n<p>De
