EDC neemt geen deel aan de reactie, maar vergemakkelijkt alleen de chemische reactie, het kan worden teruggewonnen om te worden gerecycled en opnieuw gebruikt in het proces. De Fombio-vestiging werkt al jaren aan het maximaliseren van de terugwinning van EDC en het minimaliseren van de impact van EDC op de persoonlijke veiligheid en het milieu door het nemen van verbeteringsmaatregelen in de hele productiecyclus, van opslag tot afvalproductie en -verwerking. Het resultaat is technisch bereikt door:   <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>implementatie van EDC cryogene condensatie gekoppeld aan continue monitoring van emissies;<\/li>\n<li>door de cyclus zoveel als technisch haalbaar te sluiten, waardoor de aanwezigheid van EDC in het afvalwater en in de afvalstromen wordt ge\u00eblimineerd;<\/li>\n<li>door een strikt gecontroleerde conditioneringsdiscipline te implementeren in onderhoudsactiviteiten en<\/li>\n<li>de effectiviteit van al deze goede praktijken bevestigen door middel van een gestructureerd jaarlijks controleprotocol voor industri\u00eble hygi\u00ebne.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>EDC is opgenomen in REACH Bijlage XIV vanwege zijn carcinogene eigenschappen; er is een chemisch veiligheidsrapport ingediend bij ECHA voor autorisatie, waarin de beoordeling van de blootstelling als gevolg van de SCC-behandeling van de stof is gedocumenteerd. Het bedrijf heeft van ECHA een autorisatieperiode van 12 jaar gekregen. <\/p>\n<p><strong>Meer oplossingen van Dow Group Itali\u00eb<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Dow Group in Itali\u00eb produceert een breed scala aan chemische producten. Bij sommige producties worden carcinogenen gebruikt. De grote en voortdurende aandacht van het bedrijf voor de gezondheid van hun werknemers en het milieu is de aanleiding geweest om de processen en operationele procedures te verbeteren waar deze stoffen bij betrokken zijn.  <\/p>\n<p>De drie volgende gevallen zijn voorbeelden van beste praktijken om de processen (eerste geval) of de omgang met carcinogene grondstoffen (tweede en derde geval) te verbeteren om de potenti\u00eble blootstelling van werknemers te verminderen:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>CASE 1: Gebruik van 1,2 dichloorethaan (EDC) in strikt gecontroleerde omstandigheden (huidig geval)<\/li>\n<li>CASE 2: <a href=\"https:\/\/stopcarcinogensatwork.eu\/good-practice\/use-aqueous-solution-instead-solid-pure-substance\/\">Gebruik van waterige oplossing in plaats van zuivere vaste stof<\/a><\/li>\n<li>CASE 3: <a href=\"https:\/\/stopcarcinogensatwork.eu\/good-practice\/dry-disconnect-couplers-used-unloading-hazardous-material-road-bulks-minibulks-ibc-containers\/\">Dry Disconnect Couplers gebruikt voor het lossen van gevaarlijk materiaal uit bulks en minibulks \/ IBC-containers.<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Resu<\/strong><strong>lts<\/strong><\/p>\n<div class=\"wp-menu-arrow\"><\/div>\n<p>De volledige implementatie van deze best practices heeft een belangrijk effect gehad op de locaties waar ze zijn toegepast. Ondanks het feit dat de problemen verschillend waren en de oplossingen uiteraard ook, hadden ze allemaal een gemeenschappelijk resultaat: de effectieve vermindering van de blootstelling van werknemers aan carcinogenen. Het eerste geval is een voorbeeld van een complexe goede praktijk die ook het productieproces en het gebruik van grondstoffen verbetert. De tweede goede praktijk maakte het mogelijk de behandeling van een vaste carcinogene stof te elimineren en het werk in te passen in een gesloten cyclus. Het derde geval is een interessante goede praktijk om de blootstelling te verminderen en die gemakkelijk kan worden toegepast bij de omgang met gevaarlijke stoffen in het algemeen.
