Kankerverwekkende risico&#8217;s bij de afwerking van hout kunnen ontstaan door blootstelling aan bepaalde chemicali\u00ebn en oplosmiddelen die worden gebruikt in producten voor de afwerking van hout. Sommige houtbeitsen, verven, vernissen en lakken kunnen bijvoorbeeld vluchtige organische stoffen (VOS), formaldehyde of andere gevaarlijke stoffen bevatten die gezondheidsrisico&#8217;s kunnen opleveren als ze niet op de juiste manier worden behandeld of geventileerd.  <\/p>\n<p>Om deze risico&#8217;s te beperken, moeten specialisten in houtafwerking prioriteit geven aan veiligheidsmaatregelen en zich houden aan de beste praktijken in hun werkomgeving. Dit omvat het gebruik van goede ventilatiesystemen en het werken in goed geventileerde ruimtes om de blootstelling aan schadelijke stoffen op de werkplek te verminderen.
