Als steenbewerker of installateur bestaat uw functie uit het vormen, snijden en afwerken van verschillende soorten steen en het is van cruciaal belang dat u zich bewust bent van mogelijke beroepsrisico’s, waaronder risico’s op kankerverwekkendheid. Door de aard van uw werk kunt u worden blootgesteld aan processtoffen die het risico op kanker kunnen verhogen. <\/p>\n

Kankerverwekkende risico’s bij de fabricage van stenen kunnen ontstaan door blootstelling aan materialen zoals silicastof, dat vrijkomt tijdens het fabricageproces. Silicastof bevat kristallijne silica en langdurige inademing van deze stof wordt in verband gebracht met een verhoogd risico op longkanker, silicose en andere aandoeningen aan de luchtwegen. <\/p>\n

Om deze risico’s te beperken is het noodzakelijk om veiligheidsmaatregelen te implementeren en de beste praktijken in steenfabricage na te leven. Het gebruik van natte fabricagetechnieken en plaatselijke afzuigventilatiesystemen kan helpen bij het beheersen van de verspreiding van silicastof op de werkplek.
