Als Bouwkundig ingenieur kan je werkomgeving je blootstellen aan tal van kankerverwekkende gevaren, waardoor het risico op kanker toeneemt. Deze gevaren omvatten verschillende vormen, waaronder blootstelling aan asbest, benzeen, polycyclische aromatische koolwaterstoffen (PAHs) en silicastof. <\/p>\n

Langdurige blootstelling aan deze stoffen door inademing of direct contact kan ernstige gevolgen hebben voor de gezondheid op de lange termijn, zoals longkanker, mesothelioom, leukemie en blaaskanker. Gezien de potenti\u00eble risico’s is het noodzakelijk om strenge veiligheidsmaatregelen te implementeren om blootstelling te beperken. <\/p>\n

Dit omvat het gebruik van persoonlijke beschermingsmiddelen (PPE) zoals ademhalingstoestellen, handschoenen en overalls, het implementeren van effectieve ventilatiesystemen om verontreinigende stoffen in de lucht te verminderen en het gebruik van alternatieve materialen die minder gezondheidsrisico’s met zich meebrengen wanneer dit haalbaar is.
