Je beroep brengt direct blootstelling aan kankerverwekkende stoffen met zich mee door de aard van je laswerk en de materialen die je gebruikt in de metaalverwerkende industrie. <\/p>\n<p>Kankerverwekkende risico&#8217;s bij lassen en fabricage komen voornamelijk voort uit blootstelling aan lasrook en gassen die tijdens het lasproces ontstaan. Deze dampen bevatten verschillende gevaarlijke stoffen, waaronder metaaloxiden, gassen en deeltjes, waarvan sommige kankerverwekkend zijn. Lasrook kan bijvoorbeeld kankerverwekkende metalen bevatten zoals zeswaardig chroom, nikkel en mangaan.  <\/p>\n<p>Om deze risico&#8217;s te beperken, moeten lassers en fabrikanten prioriteit geven aan veiligheidsmaatregelen en zich houden aan de beste praktijken in hun werkomgeving. Dit omvat het gebruik van plaatselijke afzuigsystemen en het werken in goed geventileerde ruimten die de concentratie van lasrook op de werkplek kunnen verminderen. Het dragen van de juiste persoonlijke beschermingsmiddelen (PPE), zoals ademhalingstoestellen met filters die ontworpen zijn voor lasrook, handschoenen en beschermende kleding, om blootstelling aan gevaarlijke stoffen te minimaliseren.
