Disse materialene brukes i produksjonen av emballasje, belegg og maling, lakk, lim, tannpleieprodukter og -utstyr, materialer til beinreparasjon og kontaktlinser. Det utvikles stadig nye bruksomr\u00e5der innen medisinsk bildediagnostikk og legemiddeladministrasjon.  <\/p>\n<p>Workers in polymer production have the highest risk of exposure to glycidyl metacrylate. H\u00f8y eksponering kan forekomme under oppgaver som pr\u00f8vetaking, vedlikehold, fylling av beholdere, filtrering, testing og avfallsh\u00e5ndtering.<br \/>\nYrker knyttet til lege- og tannlegetjenester, som tannleger, tannlegeassistenter, tannpleiere og tannteknikere, kan bli utsatt for glycidylmetakrylat. Arbeidere som er involvert i produksjon av medisinske og tannlegeinstrumenter kan ogs\u00e5 bli utsatt.  <\/p>\n<h2>Mer om stoffet<\/h2>\n<p>Glycidylmetakrylat er en fargel\u00f8s v\u00e6ske som fremstilles ved menneskelig aktivitet. Den brukes hovedsakelig til \u00e5 produsere plast (polymerer) og akrylharpikser. Disse materialene brukes i tannpleieprodukter, materialer for beinreparasjon, belegg og kontaktlinser. De kan ogs\u00e5 brukes i materialer som kommer i kontakt med mat, for eksempel emballasje. Det utvikles nye bruksomr\u00e5der for disse polymerene innen medisinsk bildediagnostikk og m\u00e5lrettet legemiddeladministrering.<br \/>\nEn EU-omfattende bindende grenseverdi for yrkesmessig eksponering er for tiden under utarbeidelse.    <\/p>\n<h2>Helserisikoer som kan oppst\u00e5<\/h2>\n<p>Eksponering for glycidylmetakrylat skjer ved inn\u00e5nding, hudkontakt og oralt (kontakt mellom hender og munn).<br \/>\nDet foreligger begrenset dokumentasjon p\u00e5 om glycidylmetakrylat for\u00e5rsaker kreft hos mennesker. Dyrefors\u00f8k viser at langvarig eksponering for dette stoffet kan for\u00e5rsake kreft og ha skadelige effekter p\u00e5 reproduksjonsevnen og fruktbarheten. Det er beskrevet hudsensibiliserende effekter hos mennesker.  <\/p>\n<h2>Hva du kan gj\u00f8re<\/h2>\n<p>Den beste m\u00e5ten \u00e5 redusere risikoen ved eksponering for glycidylmetakrylat p\u00e5, er \u00e5 erstatte stoffet med et tryggere alternativ eller \u00e5 endre prosessen. Dersom dette ikke er mulig, m\u00e5 det iverksettes tiltak for \u00e5 redusere eksponeringen. <\/p>\n<p>Glycidylmetakrylat fremstilles vanligvis i et lukket system under n\u00f8ye kontrollerte forhold uten direkte kontakt med arbeidstakerne; dette begrenser ogs\u00e5 utslipp til luften og holder eksponeringen p\u00e5 et lavt niv\u00e5.<\/p>\n<p>Hold arbeidsplassen ren og oppbevar materialer p\u00e5 en sikker m\u00e5te.
