Formaldehyde er en organisk forbindelse som brukes som vevsfiksativ ved mikroskopi og histologi. I denne casestudien ble formaldehyd erstattet av et produkt som inneholder etylalkohol, isopropylalkohol og eddiksyre under det kommersielle navnet Fixall-his. Forbindelsen ble valgt p\u00e5 grunn av den relativt lave helserisikoen og den vellykkede erfaringen med substitusjon p\u00e5 franske sykehus.
