Disse kreftfremkallende stoffene opptrer i ulike former, som laboratoriekjemikalier, l\u00f8semidler og reagenser. Hyppig kontakt med disse stoffene gjennom inn\u00e5nding eller hudeksponering kan \u00f8ke sannsynligheten for \u00e5 utvikle kreft, noe som gj\u00f8r det n\u00f8dvendig med \u00e5rv\u00e5kne sikkerhetstiltak.  <\/p>\n<p>Kjemikere og kjemieteknikere st\u00e5r overfor spesifikke kreftfremkallende risikoer knyttet til stoffer som benzen, som er utbredt i visse l\u00f8semidler, og Formaldehyd, som ofte finnes i laboratoriemilj\u00f8er. Bruken av etylenoksid i steriliseringsprosesser legger dessuten til et nytt lag med potensiell helserisiko. Kontinuerlig eksponering for disse stoffene kan bidra til utvikling av kreft, blant annet leukemi, hudkreft og kreft i luftveiene.  <\/p>\n<p>For \u00e5 motvirke disse risikoene er det viktig \u00e5 iverksette proaktive sikkerhetstiltak. N\u00e5r det er mulig, b\u00f8r man prioritere bruk av tryggere alternative materialer eller innlemme tekniske kontrolltiltak, for eksempel ved \u00e5 implementere gode ventilasjonssystemer i laboratorier som bidrar til \u00e5 redusere luftb\u00e5rne konsentrasjoner av farlige stoffer. Bruk av verneutstyr, som hansker og \u00e5ndedrettsmasker, kan minimere hudkontakt og inn\u00e5nding.
