I 2022 d\u00f8de 3 286 arbeidstakere som f\u00f8lge av ulykker p\u00e5 arbeidsplassen, noe som er et stort problem. Men visste du at over 100 000 (tidligere) arbeidstakere d\u00f8r hvert \u00e5r som f\u00f8lge av eksponering for kreftfremkallende stoffer p\u00e5 jobb? Og det som gj\u00f8r dette tallet enda mer sjokkerende, er det faktum at dette kunne ha v\u00e6rt forhindret. Den 4. februar oppfordrer World Cancer Day<\/a>oppfordrer Roadmap on Carcinogens virksomheter til \u00e5 ta ansvar for \u00e5 skape et trygt arbeidsmilj\u00f8. <\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Kreft for\u00e5rsaket av eksponering for kreftfremkallende stoffer p\u00e5 arbeidsplassen er en betydelig, men ofte oversett yrkesrisiko. Arbeidstakere i bransjer som produksjon, bygg og anlegg, landbruk og helsevesen kan v\u00e6re utsatt for h\u00f8yere risiko p\u00e5 grunn av langvarig eksponering for disse skadelige stoffene. <\/p>\n

Forent av unike<\/h2>\n

World Cancer Day’s tema er «united by unique»: Alle kreftpasienter deler diagnosen, men deres historie er unik. Det samme gjelder for arbeidstakere eller tidligere arbeidstakere som lider av kreft for\u00e5rsaket av eksponering for farlige stoffer p\u00e5 jobben. Deres unike historier forenes av det faktum at dette kunne ha v\u00e6rt forhindret. <\/p>\n

Vanlige kreftfremkallende stoffer p\u00e5 arbeidsplassen er asbest, benzen, formaldehyd og visse tungmetaller. Asbest har for eksempel v\u00e6rt mye brukt i bygg- og isolasjonsmaterialer, noe som har f\u00f8rt til sykdommer som mesoteliom og lungekreft. Benzen, et kjemikalie som finnes i drivstoff og l\u00f8semidler, har blitt knyttet til leukemi og andre blodkreftformer. Kreftfremkallende stoffer kan v\u00e6re en ingrediens i produkter, men ogs\u00e5 v\u00e6re et resultat av en prosess (prosessgenererte kreftfremkallende stoffer), f.eks. i sveiser\u00f8yk eller utslipp fra dieselmotorer. <\/p>\n

Hvordan forebygge eksponering<\/h2>\n

Risikoen for \u00e5 utvikle kreft p\u00e5 grunn av kreftfremkallende stoffer p\u00e5 arbeidsplassen avhenger av type og niv\u00e5 av eksponering, varighet og individuell mottakelighet. Arbeidsgivere er juridisk og etisk forpliktet til \u00e5 minimere disse risikoene gjennom sikkerhetstiltak i henhold til STOP-strategien. Tidlig oppdagelse og forebygging er avgj\u00f8rende.
