A exposi\u00e7\u00e3o profissional \u00e0 acrilamida resulta principalmente do contacto d\u00e9rmico com o mon\u00f3mero s\u00f3lido e da inala\u00e7\u00e3o de poeiras e vapores durante a produ\u00e7\u00e3o de acrilamida e poliacrilamida. <\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>A sua exposi\u00e7\u00e3o aumenta o risco de v\u00e1rios tipos de cancro (classificados como grupo 2A pelo IARC, ou seja, prov\u00e1veis agentes cancer\u00edgenos para o ser humano). No organismo, a acrilamida \u00e9 convertida num composto chamado glicidamida, que provoca muta\u00e7\u00f5es e danos no ADN. Os elevados n\u00edveis de exposi\u00e7\u00e3o profissional \u00e0 acrilamida podem tamb\u00e9m causar danos neurol\u00f3gicos. No entanto, os estudos sobre a exposi\u00e7\u00e3o profissional s\u00e3o atualmente limitados e inconclusivos.   <\/p>\n<h2>Onde ocorrem os riscos<\/h2>\n<p>Os trabalhadores das ind\u00fastrias do papel e da pasta de papel, da constru\u00e7\u00e3o, da fundi\u00e7\u00e3o, da perfura\u00e7\u00e3o de petr\u00f3leo, dos t\u00eaxteis, dos cosm\u00e9ticos, do processamento de alimentos, dos pl\u00e1sticos, das minas e da agricultura est\u00e3o potencialmente expostos \u00e0 acrilamida.<\/p>\n<h2>Mais informa\u00e7\u00f5es sobre a subst\u00e2ncia<\/h2>\n<p>Acrilamida \u00e9 uma amida insaturada que existe como um s\u00f3lido cristalino branco e inodoro \u00e0 temperatura ambiente. \u00c9 utilizada principalmente para fabricar subst\u00e2ncias chamadas poliacrilamida e copol\u00edmeros de acrilamida que s\u00e3o utilizados em muitos processos industriais, como a produ\u00e7\u00e3o de papel, corantes e pl\u00e1sticos, e no tratamento de \u00e1gua pot\u00e1vel e \u00e1guas residuais, incluindo esgotos. <\/p>\n<h2>Perigos que podem ocorrer<\/h2>\n<p>A exposi\u00e7\u00e3o prolongada ou repetida, por qualquer via, pode causar fraqueza muscular, incoordena\u00e7\u00e3o, erup\u00e7\u00f5es cut\u00e2neas, transpira\u00e7\u00e3o excessiva das m\u00e3os e dos p\u00e9s, m\u00e3os frias, descama\u00e7\u00e3o da pele, dorm\u00eancia, sensa\u00e7\u00f5es anormais na pele ou nos m\u00fasculos, fadiga e danos no sistema nervoso central e perif\u00e9rico. A exposi\u00e7\u00e3o prolongada \u00e0 acrilamida durante anos pode causar v\u00e1rios tipos de cancro atrav\u00e9s de danos no ADN. <\/p>\n<p><strong>O per\u00edodo de lat\u00eancia entre a exposi\u00e7\u00e3o e o cancro relacionado com a acrilamida varia entre 4 e 16 anos.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h2>O que podes fazer<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Efectua continuamente medi\u00e7\u00f5es de exposi\u00e7\u00e3o adequadas para que se saiba quando devem ser tomadas medidas.<\/li>\n<li>Investiga se os trabalhadores comunicam sintomas precoces. Os trabalhadores devem estar conscientes dos efeitos da exposi\u00e7\u00e3o. <\/li>\n<li>A melhor solu\u00e7\u00e3o \u00e9 controlar a exposi\u00e7\u00e3o, por exemplo, evitando o contacto d\u00e9rmico e por inala\u00e7\u00e3o.
