Ker lahko prodira skozi ko\u017eo, sta vdihavanje in dermalni stik pomembni poti exposure.<br \/>\nSnov je v skladu z Uredbo EU o razvr\u0161\u010danju, ozna\u010devanju in pakiranju razvr\u0161\u010dena kot domnevno rakotvorne snovi za ljudi (kategorija 1B).<\/p>\n<h2>Kje se pojavljajo tveganja<\/h2>\n<p>Poklicna exposure pirokateholu se pojavlja predvsem v kemi\u010dni in farmacevtski proizvodnji, pri tehni\u010dnem testiranju in analizah ter v nekaterih nadaljnjih industrijah, kot so povr\u0161inska obdelava, elektronika, guma in plastika ter proizvodnja strojev.<br \/>\nMed zaposlenimi z najve\u010djim tveganjem za exposure pirokateholu so operaterji kemi\u010dnih procesov, operaterji destilacije, me\u0161anja in skladi\u0161\u010dnih rezervoarjev ter vzdr\u017eevalci, laboratorijski tehniki in analitski kemiki. Izpostavljeni so lahko tudi zaposleni v galvanizaciji ter zaposleni, ki se ukvarjajo s povr\u0161insko obdelavo in proizvodnjo elektronike.<br \/>\nExposure je najverjetnej\u0161a med dejavnostmi, kjer se s snovjo ravna v odprtih sistemih ali kjer zadr\u017eevanje ni popolnoma u\u010dinkovito, na primer pri me\u0161anju ali spajanju, potapljanju, premazovanju ali procesih povr\u0161inske obdelave. Dodatna exposure se lahko pojavi med vzdr\u017eevalnimi in \u010distilnimi operacijami.<\/p>\n<h2>Ve\u010d o snovi<\/h2>\n<p>Pirokatehol je pri sobni temperaturi trdna snov, ki se obi\u010dajno pojavlja kot bel do rjav kristalini\u010den prah, ki lahko ob exposure zraku potemni. Pirokatehol se zelo dobro topi v vodi in v mnogih organskih topilih.<\/p>\n<p>Pirokatehol ni zelo vnetljiv ali eksploziven pod normalnimi pogoji. Vendar pa lahko pri ravnanju v trdni obliki tvori prah in lahko pri segrevanju med industrijskimi procesi ali pri uporabi v teko\u010di obliki ustvarja aerosole ali hlape.<\/p>\n<p>Uporablja se predvsem kot intermediat pri proizvodnji drugih snovi in izdelkov. Najve\u010dje kategorije kon\u010dnih izdelkov za pirokatehol vklju\u010dujejo agrokemikalije (sredstva za varstvo rastlin), arome in di\u0161ave (npr. vanilin, di\u0161e\u010di izdelki za gospodinjstvo), farmacevtske izdelke in dodatke za gumo\/polimere za plastiko, pnevmatike in gumijaste izdelke.<\/p>\n<h2>Zdravstvena tveganja, ki se lahko pojavijo<\/h2>\n<p>Exposure pirokateholu se lahko pojavi z vdihavanjem prahu ali hlapov in s stikom s ko\u017eo.<br \/>\nKratkotrajna exposure lahko povzro\u010di simptome, kot so ka\u0161elj, dra\u017eenje grla, dra\u017eenje o\u010di in pordelost ko\u017ee ali nelagodje. Kjer je mogo\u010de, je treba pirokatehol nadomestiti z manj nevarnimi snovmi ali alternativnimi postopki, ki zmanj\u0161ujejo exposure. Ti vklju\u010dujejo uporabo zaprtih sistemov in avtomatizacije, lokalno odsesovalno prezra\u010devanje na emisijskih to\u010dkah in u\u010dinkovito splo\u0161no prezra\u010devanje.
