Educational Institutions and Trainers

This project is part of the Roadmap on Carcinogens 2. Strategy 2020–24. True to the motto ‘You can’t teach an old dog new tricks’, it is necessary to start raising awareness about occupational carcinogens already in primary schools. Strategies must be developed and implemented for instructing young people during vocational educational training (VET) to be aware of the risks originating from carcinogenic agents and to behave accordingly. This challenge was run by Slovenia and Belgium.

About these template lessons on carcinogens.

The lesson proposals on carcinogens were prepared by the National Education Institute Slovenia and the Ministry of Labour, Family, Social Affairs and Equal Opportunities of the Republic of Slovenia. This document is based on Slovenian legislation and experience, and was tested in some primary schools in Slovenia during the period 2023–24. This lesson proposal can be translated and adapted by the EU Member States to suit their needs and practices. Teachers are also invited to use and integrate the gamification tool developed by our colleagues in Belgium into their lessons for secondary school students.
