Carcinogenic substances, or carcinogens, are cancer-causing agents. A well-known example is asbestos, a substance that is responsible for thousands of victims who suffer and die because of exposure to the asbestos particles in the past. Many other carcinogenic substances are less known, but even natural products, such as dust from hardwood, may cause cancer. Make sure that you and others know what you work with!
Although everyone can learn throughout life, the universal saying that you can’t teach an old dog new tricks is still true.
We are convinced that if children start learning and understanding that their safety and health is related to their own choices it becomes a natural part of how they live and how they work. The risk of occupational cancer and its prevention is obviously a very complex issue that needs a special approach.

Professionals know their craft. But they may not be directly involved in the risk assessment and subsequent choice of technical and personal measures.
In order for every worker to be well informed about potential risks that are associated with their task and to consequently apply safety measures, it is not sufficient to simply spread info. Active involvement of workers, leading by example and practical tests are key supplements to information transfer.
