Of course, any professional knows what they are doing and is an expert in their craft. But they may not be directly involved in the risk assessment and subsequent choice of technical and personal measures. Further, with every routine job there may be less awareness on precautionary measures.
Sometimes it may be that correctly doffing protection gear after a task seems to unnecessarily delay the end of the working day. Or the ventilation system of the technical device is always hampering to effectively perform a task. Therefore, in order for every worker to be well informed about potential risks that are associated with their task and to consequently apply safety measures, it is not sufficient to simply spread info sheets. In general, active involvement of workers, leading by example and practical tests are key supplements to theoretical information transfer. Examples can be the reporting of ‘almost accidents’ and rewarding ideas of workers to motivate the complete team.
